Somehow this year's Christmas is a little bit different... maybe no caroling... maybe no gift exchange for me... or maybe there are just too many big cool shopping complex that just gave me a new meaning of Christmas? Is that a bad thing?
Well......hard to say I think, we dwell in grey lives my friends - there's no right or wrong. It's all in the grey area. One man's meat is another man's poison. Was talking to a friend the other day and he was saying Christmas is all about nice decorations, sales and nice family dinners. Well.... I was thinking, that is wrong, Christmas is about Jesus coming to earth to die for our sins so we can be saved. It is an expression of God's love.... but you just can't help it. Even all the Christians are out there enjoying the nice decoration, sales and nice family dinners. Somehow I just feel like a hypocrite telling them the "true" meaning of Christmas according to our own understanding. So I have concluded, that Christmas season has become a bad time to tell people about Christ. I mean....think about it. Just imagine today is 31st August and it's a public holiday. There's a new shopping complex the size of Singapore in Subang Jaya, and everyone especially YOU, would like to go and shop. Suddenly a friend comes by and asked you to turn on the TV. There's a really good show going on. The title "The True Meaning of Merdeka". What would you choose? Same thing with Christmas.... people are excited over the wrong reason - but even some of them knows it's wrong, but it still feels so good doing it. So what are the chances a person may feel like he/she is in need of the gospel? Definitely not when he\she is busy shopping. That could probably explains why churches are moving away from evangelising during Christmas.... no more caroling, no more fliers, none of those anymore....... it's just "organizing dinner for ourselves mentality" Probably explains why I feel this empty during Christmas.....like it's no longer the same meaning I used to experience. I am looking for Christmas.....can you tell me where to find it?
