Good habits

Good habits equal good health. Bad habits weigh us down, hold us back, and prevent us from reaching our potential. Success is a good habit, some say.

So why would I blog on having good habits?

Last week in my class, the lecturer was explaining habitual buyers. Some people do things out of habit, including purchasing a product. Somehow the illustration goes to good and bad habits.

She asked us, “How many of you leave the water running while brushing your teeth?”

Then we hear some giggles around and there are some movement which either indicate that they are guilty of doing so, OR the room is just too cold?

I was once guilty of that action. Leaving the water running while brushing my teeth BUT I can proudly say now, I don’t do that anymore. I became very environmental friendly thanks to the forwarded e-mails and motivational seminars that I go to. So you can imagine me in the classroom, screening the faces of each student who are guilty of it!

"Why would this be a bad habit – leaving the water running while brushing my teeth?" You may ask. I know of people who don’t even use water to brush their teeth! That’s because they simply DON’T brush teeth. Under such circumstances, it will be difficult to illustrate good and bad habits using the above question.

The bible promotes good habits. In Proverbs 26:11, “As a dog returns to his own vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” So having a bad habit is that dog. Go figure!

Here are some good habits quotations, I hope it encourages us to promote GOOD habits (at the same time switch off the tap when brushing your teeth-lar!)

Today, however, we need new lenses. And we need to throw the old ones away."- Kenich Ohmae
