HAPPY EARTH DAY

Happy earth day guys. Not sure what comes to your mind first when you read this but for me, other than getting down on my knees to thank God for another reason to binge and purge, I will think about illegal logging, extinct animals, dumping of industrial waste into our ecosystem, toxic disposal (legal would only means they have the right paperwork to pollute the environment, a license to kill mother nature - so as long as it is toxic disposal, there should be no argument of legal or illegal), release of CFC or CO into the air, nuclear waste absorbed by animals that would eventually ends up in our stomach. But maybe this is not so bad, after all God gave earth for us to stay, to utilize, to extract and to strip off its resources. Maybe our whole life is an echo of the second law of thermodynamics - the unwavering propensity of energy to disperse and in doing so, transition from high quality to low quality forms. Think about it. Earth was created with highly valuable minerals, as time goes by, these minerals starts to deplete, and eventually the cost of extracting it will be so costly that no one bothers doing it anymore. Or human body, when we were born, we had the perfect body, organs, but as we started tread the working floor, we realize that our body starts to fail us, as we grow older, our skin starts to wrinkle, we seem to be taking more pills than rice , our work quality starts to decrease - if during the earlier days, we can tread the working floor continuously for 16 hours surviving only by 2 loaves of bread and a cup of water, now we can only do 8 hours, including 1 lunch break, 3 tea break, and 10 toilet break. Or even our new pair of shoes. When we first bought it, it looks really good. But as we wear it around, it starts to pick up dirt, eventually forming some hard crust (in my case) or green fungus (in Kevin’s case) and the material starts to decrease in quality but sadly, there isn’t any viable method to replace it. Thus the second law of thermodynamics takes its place in our lives. The deterioration of everything…. Everything that we thought is important, our car, our house, our money, our loves one, everything will eventually degenerate (inflation in case of money and the inability to use it when you’re sick or old). Makes you think that we’re just an agent of energy dispersal – health care products will not make you look better, it just slows down the ageing process thus eventual failure of our organs to perform. Investment will not make your money grow, it just makes the transition from earth to heaven or hell harder, since there is more you have to leave behind, getting married and having children early will only makes them leaves you earlier in your life… don’t you get it? You’re just an agent of energy dispersal. What is then our purpose?

Dear Earth

You are not my home, not where I belong, not where I will invest my life. I am just passing by. But I thank you for taking care of me all these while. For granting me the temporary joy of life. I love you Earth but God will take me home some day. Cheers. cc
