John 10:25-26 Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
Have you ever wondered why do you believe in Jesus Christ? Deep in your heart, have you ever questioned the truth of our Bible?
The above seems to be dangerous questions to ask. Throughout my journey of faith, I have pondered upon the second question before - on the origins of the Bible and the possibility that it has been manipulated by men (as what mentioned in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown). Perhaps "manipulated" is too strong a word to be used. Well, what if there are certain texts which has been left out accidentally? When I did a quick search on The Gnostic Gospels, there are many other gospels which are not included in our Bible, yet they are ancient texts too. Just why have they been left out? And I heard that the Catholic Bible has additional books?
As some would have said, those which are excluded are not consistent with the Bible that we have now, so we can dismiss those texts. Some would refute the claims of those books which go against the Bible; so if you can't prove that it's true, it remains as false. Some would simply refuse to read these books or writings.
In a programme on the Gospel of Judas on the National Geographic Channel last Saturday, one of the persons who was interviewed provided a very simple yet profound answer to the questions above - all that we need to do is just to have faith. After all, being a believer is all about having the faith in our Lord, our God. If we do not have the faith, no matter what concrete and solid proof that can exist about our Bible, we can still not believe.
