I was preparing to go on a shopping spree when I was writing this post. It should've been done yesterday, but I kept putting it off. If not for the upcoming gift exchange during the CH trip, I might have called off the whole shopping thingy until this weekend. Not having a gift to be exchanged during Christmas is simply unacceptable.
And so I was doing some pre-shopping "homework", i.e. surfing the net, when I stumbled upon this article entitled "The Perfect Gift" via a Christian website. My first thought was that this article would be able to give me some tips on how to choose the perfect "Christian-ly" gift for my brother- or sister-in-Christ. I was pleasantly surprised as I read on, because the perfect gift was not what I had anticipated at all.
I was being reminded that a gift doesn't have to something that has to be bought and exchanged. Each and everyone of us could be giving gifts which costs us nothing at all - compassion, our precious time, forgiveness, encouragement, patience, love, and many more. Most importantly, these are the gifts which our Lord Christ Jesus has freely given to us. Therefore, during this season of giving and merry-making, let us all ponder upon whether have we been giving gifts.
I might not need to buy anything for the gift exchange after all.

She had been able to give compassion today to Mary who was troubled over some family concerns. She had given time to her teenager, to look him in the eye and really hear what he was telling her. She had given forgiveness to her boss who didn’t even know how hurtful his comments had been. She had given encouragement to her husband who was feeling frustrated in his work.
