Religion Will Be Defeated by Science?

In a CNET article today, apparently Stephen Hawking claimed that "Science will win because it works."

First of all, I'm not sure if Hawking is referring to any particular religion. Secondly, well, whatever religion which he might be referring to, I beg to differ. However, I could have misunderstood his statement. Thirdly, I find this article worthy to be posted in this blog because it is interesting to note how such a man whose theories is read by and fascinated so many, could come up with such a statement.

What can I learn from his statement?

Definitely not that science will win, for whatsoever reason. As Christians, we must be careful to worship God and only God, not the intelligence of ours or others. Our ability to think, reason, analyze and critique comes from God and should be used to serve God.
