A lot of times Christians do not really know the cost of being a disciple of Christ. We know that Christ has redeemed us from the bondage of sin, it is the blood of Christ that redeemed us. So suffering is always been a big part of Christian Faith and the Christian cross has always been a central theme of Christianity; it is a sign of Christ’s death but just as importantly, it is also a sign of the disciples way of life. What then is the real cost of Discipleship? The real costs of discipleship are, as disciple we have to:
- Be Committed - Know that as Christians we need to be committed to Christ. Take up your cross and follow Him.
- Be Realistic - Consider the cost of what it truly means to be a disciple, are you ready to die for Him?
- Be Humble - Do we live as grateful servants, submitting ourselves to His will? The ability to do that is a sign of real humility.
- Be Distinctive - People should know us by our actions and words but more importantly by our attitudes and the actions should show that we belong to God.
Look back at your walk with Christ, have you consider all the cost of being a Disciple? let us be reminded that we are to be Committed, to know the realistic nature of being a disciple, to be humble and submitting ourselves to the will of God and to make a difference in the society that people will know that we disciples of Christ.
