I don't know if anyone noticed that I have kept the book on George Muller for two months instead of the agreed one month time frame given to every WOOT-er to finish their respective books. Honestly, I found it very difficult to digest the book in the beginning. I was reading for the sake of reading, without really understanding or appreciating the content or its meaning. Of course, all this is against my principle (*ahem*), so I stopped reading it for a month or so (and went to other "lighter" reads). However, last week, I was prompted (was it by God?) to finish off the book.
And this time around, I could actually appreciate the message of the book.
George Muller is a man of faith who devoted his life to service to God. His story is a true testimony of God's Almighty power and His providence, and in one of the last chapters, the author mentioned Jehovah Jireh - The LORD will provide.
Here, I would just like to briefly note the four things which Muller advised Christians on:
- Carefully read the Bible and meditate on it.
- Maintain an upright heart and a good conscience and not knowingly and habitually indulge in things which are contrary to the mind of God.
- ... should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried.
- ... let God work for us and do not work a deliverance of our own.
The story of George Muller is a story which inspires me to search deep into my relationship with God, to re-examine my faith in Him, and to ask myself if I have been serving GOD as I should be.
